david why are you trying to shake up a class that you have nothing to do with? you dont have a x mod and you dont have a sport mod. hop in a sport mod i bet you wont want to drive your stock car again!

I am thinking of moving into that division next year.  I am not trying to shake anything up.  Just curious like everyone else.  I am not the one who started this conversation but I think there are a lot of people curious.

Those people who are "waiting to see how it is going to turn out" are the ones ruining the class. I've seen about 5 people say that now. If they get that car out there others will bring theres then even more people will get into it. Why wait and see when Doug already said he's not getting rid of them? Just get the freakin car out there and race and stop bitching when you say theres no cars out there when you guys are keeping yours at home! And no I'm not talking to you David, just the people who complain about car count and not even bring their cars out to the track.

you may get 20 cars BUT how many good cars? 3 , 4 not many ted Robinson has won all the Tucson  races. they have no tech.  the sport mods are cheaper and are faster then x- mod. i have ran both. the sport mod is the best class. no it may not grow fast . or at all but i can say it was the funnest class i have ran, not only winning the 3 championships but being able to race with all my friends and family sometimes.  all in all the sport mod class is a good class i would of loved to race one this year tell i got the late model ride.  all the factory stock guys who have ran a factory for 2 years at least need to move up. that would up the class. also the back runners in the mod need to step down

this is Justin Thornton defending sport mod champion

I agree with Justin! This class is definately affordable and you get more fun for the buck!!! The class is super competitve with equal chassis and motors which puts it in the drivers hands. We have had some talented drivers in this class and still do. Also when we do have a full car count which we have! We put on one hell of a show with 3 to 4 wide racing. Tme took a pic from the winter series with 5 sportmods side by side. Sounds like a good class to me. I have driven all kinds of cars and I would hate to see the Sport Mods go. As far as the xmod car counts in Nm goes . . . what about the Sport Mod car counts in Texas??? full fields at just about every track. Once again USA runs UMP modifieds. CSP and PVR run IMCA mods. Huge difference. Same difference between x-mods and sport mods. If we run xmods at CSP they might as well run them with the IMCA mods. My brothers cars almost finished and we still have more cars showing up then the supers so I dont see why everyones talking smack about our class. The announcer at PVR always says that we put on the best show when were up there even with 5 cars. Imagine 24 cars. Justins right people just need to move up to the Sport Mods. You can find old cars in Texas pretty cheap. I think inviting the xmods to CSP would be fun especially since Thornton whooped on them at USA and now they wont allow us to race with them. I doubt very many of them would even show up. See ya all at the races Sat!!!

To each his own...2 good classes.
Why not just extole the virtues of sport mods without being condescending towards the X-Mods.
I think some people have a rather myopic view of this discussion, possibly due to a bit too much consuption of the imca flavored kool -aid.
The Tucson x-mods are not the same as the El Paso/Las Cruces bunch...
So if sport mods are so vastly superior, why not go tangle with that bunch?(maybe, prove a point)
....Royal would be happy to have you,and I'm pretty sure the locals would be more than formidable on they're home turf....
Suffice to say,I don't believe you would be coming on here bragging about how sport mods kicked X-Mods arse's.

well, I certainly did not want to ruffle anyones feathers here.   I am just weighing my options for next year and I dont want to sink a bunch of money into a new car to find that the car count is not increasing.  I know, if I came out, I would help that problem but I don't know if I can afford that risk, so I may just have to stay in pure stocks.  I just hate body work! lol.  Sheet aluminum is much easier to keep a car looking good.  Plus I think the sport mods/x mods are easier to work on and maintain.  Thanks for the info everyone and again, sorry if I ruffled some feathers.

i can tell you right now my pure stock is the only cleanest car out in the pure stock division becuz i dont go out and beat the living f**k outta other peoples cars. im soo tired of riding in the back with a very fast car waiting for all the idots to wreck b4 i move up in positions(not saying all pure stock drivers are idots but most are). plus they are starting to kill that class by not limiting the engine sizeof those cars, im trying to trade a roller canyon pure stock suprisinlgy with a straight body for a roller sport mod cuz i rather have a sport mod any day. sport mods are awesome class keep up the good work ev ery1 in that division
