if it's dead it's because some people dont get off their ass to make it work. suck it up and show up and it will work. it cost the same to get in,6 cars or 20. notso, help us out, you have at least 1 car you would like to sell, bring it out so it can be seen. sorry if i've hurt anybodys feelings but thats the way i see it.

2 cars  I had anything to do with are sold and in NM. If I still had  them  they would be converted to X-mods  the exact  direction that class  should have went to in the first place. I am not  going to point fingers  who pushed the class in the direction it  went  (everyone already knows).

That's good you sold them. At least they would get put to good use. Ya x mods are the way to go now with many cars as they have  now. i seen from the winter series races that most of them are from out of state that came down in the sport-mods.How many cars will be out for the regular season anyone know?

I bought a sportmod and know of a few new cars that will be racing out there this season. There should be  more showing up. The way the economy is there is a lot of bang for the buck. Just need to get together to put on a good show.

my opinion the x mods is an ok class but the sportmod class is much better its a great class and it has grown so much in texas and new mexico we have not had great support with some of the guys who own them some were not real hard core racers some the econemy is so bad its hard to make it out every week so maybe the 2 months off will get some of these guts out if there was x mods at canyon it would of not worked i would run a mod instead thats just my opinion so i hope some of these sportmods support are class so we will still have aplace to race and i do understand why some people got out but its still not to late for this to be the best classand if any one needs help on theres they can give me a call Darin 602 617 4397

The X-Mod class here in New Mexico is the fastest growing class in the state...
Las Cruces is expecting between 25-30 per show,my home track,(Uranium capital speedway) in Grants N.M. added the class over the winter, there are currently 13 cars registered.
White Sand speedway in Southern N.M. ran a combo X-Sport show a couple of weeks ago...they drew nearly 30 cars.
Sherman Barnett won a championship last year in a 10 yr. old(square tube) Harris, that had been sitting out behind the race shop for years collecting rust.
...Buddy of mine just picked up an old Flexi-Flyer from Az.He paid $1500.00,roller,w/gear,headers,shaft etc.and enough tires and wheels to get him through the season. He took the motor-tranny out of his hobby stock, dropped it in his X-mod...then sold his Hobby stock to a kid starting out for $1200.00.
Compare that to a Hot chassis roller(like the  two Aztec cars that ran in Canyon earlier this year)that's over 10k...I dunno, personally,it's pretty much a no brainer...(cost wise).
I run an open mod in Grants, and am heading out to Arizona this weekend to look at a couple of 3-link cars,so that I can run that class as well...all my friends that run them tell me they're a blast and very evenly matched.
...Not trying to stir the pot here, just thought I'd add my .02...
Here in New Mexico a decent three link has gotten really hard to find...so the vast majority of our cars are coming from Az.

The X mods can use old 3-link modified chassis and sports have to use stock gm rear end.  Thats the biggest difference.

What's the differance between X Mod and Sport Mod?  Huh

Think of an X-Mod as an older modified setup (3 link or leaf spring) weight jacks and all with a limited motor (2bbrl). A Sport Mod is basically a Pure Stock with a modified body.

FYI, Justin Thornton killed those guys at Tucson with a sport-mod not an old modified. not once but twice. and boom is faster as well. this isn't a dig against x-mods. I'm just saying you don't need to buy an old mod to go run with them. i went down once before they stopped letting us go and ran 3rd till a spinner put me in the wall. I'm considering converting over to see how the motor rules will perform at canyon then i can go where i want.
